Shinya Aoki vs James Nakashima set for ONE Championship: Unbreakable
Shinya Aoki vs James Nakashima is slated to go down in a bit over a week.
The two collide in a lightweight bout on Friday, January 22nd. ONE Championship: Unbreakable emanates from Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore and streams via B/R Live.
The event features a mix of kickboxing and mixed martial arts. Aoki vs Nakashima headlines the MMA portion of the pugilistic proceedings.
Aoki has been competing with some of the best lightweights in ONE for several years now while this is Nakashima’s inaugural outing in the division.
James Nakashima enters this bout right after contending for a world title in the division above.
He fell short in a spirited effort against Kiamrian Abbasov. Nakashima was halted in the fourth frame of their ONE welterweight title bout last November.
Shinya Aoki vs James Nakashima
Shinya Aoki is a former multi-time ONE lightweight champion. He is looking to embark on a path towards yet another bid for that title.
Aoki has put together back to back victories since Christian Lee wrested the lightweight belt from his clutches. He bested Honorio Banario as well as Kimihiro Eto in that pair of wins.
The artist formerly known as Baka Survivor has captured a myriad of lightweight belts in his career (DREAM, Shooto, and WAMMA) as well as posting up a flawless 4-0 record under the PRIDE banner.
Nakashima has a chance to pivot from contending for one world title to taking on an opponent ranked in the top five of a different weight class right away.
That last outing marked James Nakashima’s first pro defeat. The former LFA welterweight champion’s resume includes wins over Yushin Okami as well as Luis Santos.
