Slim Jim pauses partnership with WWE amid “disturbing allegations against Vince McMahon”
Earlier this week it was announced that a lawsuit was brought against WWE founder and board chair Vince McMahon for allegedly abusing, sexually assaulting and trafficking Janel Grant, a former WWE employee.
Now, one of the company’s longest running advertising partners has announced a break from ties as the situation unfolds.
“Slim Jim values integrity and respect in all of our partnerships,” the company said in a statement. “Given the recent disturbing allegations against Vince McMahon, at this time we’ve decided to pause our promotional activities with WWE. This decision reflects our commitment to our brand values and responsibility to our community.”
Last summer WWE and Slim Jim announced a “multi-layered” partnership in which the two companies said, “marks the largest sponsorship deal in WWE history.”
WWE’s partnership with Slim Jim began more than 30 years ago when famed wrestler “Macho Man” Randy Savage became the face of the brand, and the “Snap into a Slim Jim” slogan was born.
Earlier this week, WWE announced a $5 billion deal with Netflix for streaming rights to “Monday Night Raw” and other programming domestically and internationally for the next 10 years, with options to extend it as long as the next 20 years.
