Steve Calero is ready for “another day in the office” at RFL 1

This Saturday, April 23, the city of Rahway, New Jersey is in for a historic treat.  Revolt Fighting League will blast onto the scene with their inaugural show live from the Rahway Recreation Center.

World Series of Fighting veteran, Ozzy Dugulubgov serves as the promoter of the young and prosperous promotion.  He recently spoke with our own, James Lynch about their promotional debut with a grin widely spread from ear to ear in excitement.

This event serves a historic purpose, due to the newly modified changes in the amateur rule set. Any sanctioned MMA bouts before the rule change mandated all amateur fighters to wear shin and instep protection/padding. Following Dugulubgov’s social media posting about the requirement being relinquished, MyMMANews confirmed with the New Jersey state athletic commission.

In the main event of the evening, Nick Catone MMA’s, Steve Calero takes on Gabriel “The Babe” Cabello in a 140-pound matchup.

“It’s good. It’s what the pros do,” Calero says about the newly implicated shin-gear rule set. “It’s what the top guys do. It’s more realistic,” he continues.  “It’s a good thing that New Jersey is starting to catch up with the rest of the states.”

Steve Calero enters Saturday’s contest loaded with confidence knowing his experience inside the cage compared to his opponent is extensive.

“Confidence, nerves and experience, and just being in there, it’s just another day in the office,” Calero says. Continuing, “I’ve been around the block a few times,” he follows. Predicting, “I’m going to get my hand raised at the end. Anyway, in hell,” he says. “I know I’m going to win!”

Tune in above as Steve Calero talks to MyMMANews a just a few days before Revolt Fighting League’s inaugural event.  With a 10-fight bout card, RFL is nearly sold out with Calero vs Cabello capping off the evening.
