Stuart Austin wins controversial decision over Satoshi Ishii at EMC 5
EMC 5 took place Saturday evening, September 5, from the UFD Gym & Training Centre in Germany and had marked the biggest event in the promotion’s short history with a number of big name veterans from the UFC, Bellator, KSW, and PFL all in action mixed with a host of rising talent from around Europe.
In the main event the UK’s Stuart Austin (15-6) took a controversial decision win over Japanese Olympic hero Satoshi Ishii (23-12-1) to be crowned the inaugural EMC heavyweight title. However, Ishii and his team have appealed and an independent panel will review the decision.
The co-main event saw recent UFC veteran Ismail Naurdiev (20-4) get back to winning ways with a hard fought win over top Polish prospect Tymoteusz Lopaczyk (7-2). Naurdiev will now meet Georgia’s Amiran Gogoladze (11-1), who spectacularly finished PFL veteran Pavel Kusch (23-8) earlier in the night, in the final of the EMC Welterweight Grand Prix which will take place on October 31st at EMC 6.
Elsewhere on the card Polish heavyweight Damian Olszewski (3-3) scored a huge upset win knocking out bodybuilder & social media star Erko Jun (3-2) in the first round, Germany’s Konrad Dyrschka (11-1) continued his rise with a decision win over Italy’s Walter Pugliesi (7-3), and Croatian female sensation Sara Luzar Smajic (2-1) churned in an impressive performance in her decision win over Mike’s Gym product Kaylee Vos (1-2).
