TDIH for ONE Championship: ONE Legends of the World transpired

ONE Championship has put on meaningful shows for over ten years and have created several transcendent moments in combat history.

In this installment of TDIH for ONE Championship, we go back to November 10th, 2017. Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines hosted ONE Legends of the World. A martial arts extravaganza that fittingly featured a pair of world title bouts topping the marquee.

In the card’s main event, Martin Nguyen cemented himself in the ONE Championship history books on this faithful day. Carving out his spot as the first-ever two-division titleholder the promotion had seen up until that juncture.

Then-ONE featherweight world champion Nguyen tested skills with then-ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang for the latter fighter’s belt.

Nguyen would end up knocking out the Team Lakay product in the second stanza. In yet another effort that underscores the preternatural power coupled with high-level striking technique that The Situ-Asian has.

In the ONE Legends of the World co-feature, current ONE flyweight world champion Adriano Moraes was also maintaining a commanding hold on the gold, albeit in a different reign, on this very day four years back.

Moraes notched a first-round rear-naked choke win over perpetually ranked contender Danny Kingad to maintain his hold on the gold.

Other notable highlights from that night inside the ONE Circle were provided by multiple former and current champions of consequence in the promotion.

Present-day ONE strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio lit up Roy Doliguez with a spinning back fist to halt the pugilistic proceedings in round two.

Stalwart strawweight contender Alex Silva applied an armbar that elicited a tap from Hayato Suzuki in the opening stanza of their clash.

Also, eventual ONE bantamweight world champion Kevin Belingon bested Kevin Chung where all three judges saw it in favour of Belingon.
