Team USA’s Jordan Oliver Suspended 2 Years For Weed
United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has announced yesterday that Team USA member, Jordan Oliver, has been suspended for two years due to his second doping violation. USADA confirmed that Oliver failed when he tested positive for THC during the World Team Trials in May of 2022. This is his second failure, the first coming in 2018 when he failed for amphetamine, a stimulant medication used in ADD and ADHD patients.
Jordan Oliver: Tough Times Ahead
Olivier failing his second time couldn’t come at a worse time. At 32 years old and with the Paris Olympics approaching in 2024. He failed for weed, a laughable offense at this stage, and will not be able to try out for Team USA in the coming year. His suspension is retroactive from July 12, 2022, meaning he will be out until well after team trials are over.
On March 1st, Olivier had signed with Bellator and would begin his career in mixed martial arts. He will be one of the better prospects coming up very shortly. Bellator doesn’t use USADA for drug testing and Olivier will likely dive into his MMA career full time now that his best wrestling days are behind him.
Jordan Olivier just missed out on qualifying the United States in his weight for Team USA in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. He qualified for the team but the weight had yet to be made and Olivier fell short.
Olivier has notched wins over names like Zain Retherford, Ryan Deakin, Yianni Diakomihalis, Bryce Meredith, and Logan Stieber.
But he is quite the accomplished wrestler. He wrestled for Oklahoma State from 2010 to 2013 bringing home 4 Big 12 Championships and two NCAA D-1 Titles as well. In the world of freestyle, Jordan Olivier won the 2019 US National Championship and a bronze in the 2009 Junior World Championships. He has also won three silvers in the US National Championships as well.
