Tofiq Musayev storms right through no. 1 ranked Sidney Outlaw at Bellator 283

Bellator MMA returns to us tonight, July 22, 2022, for Bellator 283, going down live from the Emerald Queen Casino and Hotel in Tacoma, Washington.

Headlining the event was initially slated to be a Bellator lightweight championship bout between current champion Patricky Freire and his challenger, no. 1 ranked Sidney Outlaw.

However, Freire was forced out of the bout with a injury, and considering, our main event of the evening comes in the welterweight division between former Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima and fellow top contender Jason Jackson.

Co-headlining the event is a lightweight bout between Sidney Outlaw (16-4) and former Rizin champion Tofiq Musayev (18-4).

Continue reading to see how this epic co-main event encounter went down:

Official Result: Tofiq Musayev def. Sidney Outlaw via TKO (punches) at :27 of round one

Musayev hurts Outlaw with a vicious overhand right-left hook right out of the gate, and followed it up with another overhand right to finish the job seconds into the opening round.

Wow! What a Bellator debut by Tofiq Musayev! He’s now 19-4 as a professional, and this is the 15th knockout victory of his career. Too bad for Outlaw, who obviously loses his no. 1 spot in the rankings.

To take a fight on short notice when he was supposed to be fighting for the title tonight, that’s a tough pill to swallow.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
