UFC 188 sold out, UFC 189 soon to follow

Just a week after going on sale, tickets for June 13th’s UFC 188 event at the Mexico City Arena are sold out, making it the second consecutive sellout at the venue for the UFC, which made its debut there in November of 2014.

Headlined by the UFC heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum, UFC 188 is expected to pack in over 21,000 fans, with the UFC’s record for the highest gross in Mexico City Arena history also expected to be shattered.

In other ticket news, UFC 189’s championship doubleheader in Las Vegas on July 11 is a near sellout. Tickets for the event, which features Jose Aldo’s featherweight title defense against Conor McGregor and the welterweight title fight between Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald, went on sale to the general public Friday, but the UFC Fight Club pre-sale two days earlier already far exceeded that of the original record holder – UFC 100 in 2009 – making this one of the hottest tickets in the Fight Capital of the World.
