Max Holloway
Holloway is the current UFC featherweight champion, but has virtually ran out of viable opponents in the division, so this is a positive move in his career. His professional record stands at 20 wins and three loses, with his last defeat coming against Conor McGregor back in 2013. He is renowned for his incredible cardio and striking, that has been key to many of his victories. Since that defeat Max has improved no end and is now without a doubt one of the leading fighters in the sport. This is why he is also now ranked fourth in the pound for pound list behind only Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Holloway has now won 13 fights in a row, that has seen him gain victories over the likes of Jose Aldo (twice), Brian Ortega and Anthony Pettis. Holloway is the general 4/9 favourite for the fight, which has proved a popular selection with those using the Pointsbet promo code. He will be expected to extend this impressive winning run. This could be a great stepping stone in his career as he looks to gain a huge fight in this division against the likes of Khabib or even a rematch with Conor McGregor.
Dustin Poirier
Poirier will certainly take heart from the fact he was the first fighter to inflict a loss on Holloway back in 2012 at UFC 143. This was a victory via a first round submission, and an impressive victory in that. Poirier is the number three ranked fighter in the lightweight division and will start the fight as the underdog at odds of 2/1.
The 30 year old has a professional fighting record of 24 wins, five loses and one no contest. He has similar attributes to Holloway in the fact he is a true fighter who is always willing to trade. This is why this sets up for such an exciting upcoming bout. He is also coming into the fight with three victories in succession following that no contest against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 211. If he were able to get the victory this could set up for another title shot for Poirier as he continues to climb up the rankings.
