UFC 240 results: Cris Cyborg earns decision over game Felicia Spencer

On July 27, 2019, the UFC returned to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for the second pay-per-view card of July, UFC 240. The event took place at Rogers Place and the co-main event featured Cris Cyborg taking on Felicia Spencer in a women’s featherweight matchup.

Nunes was able to capture her second title in two different weight classes as she finished Cyborg in just under a minute during the heavy-duty slugfest. Cyborg captured the 145-pound UFC title when she defeated a gritty Tonya Evinger at UFC 214 in July 2017. The former champion — who also captured titles in Invicta and Strikeforce throughout her storied career — defended her title successfully against Holly Holm and Yana Kunitskaya before the end-of-the-year showdown with Nunes.

Spencer made her Octagon debut earlier this month when she defeated Megan Anderson via submission in the opening round at UFC Rochester. Prior to that, “Feenom” captured the Invicta FC featherweight title with a fourth round submission of Pam Sorenson in the main event of November 2018’s Invicta FC 32 event.

Here is how the women’s featherweight co-main event went down between Cris Cyborg and Felicia Spencer, including MyMMANews.com’s round-by-round scoring.
