UFC development deal fighter, William Knight meets Cody Brundage
The William Knight developmental deal could be nearing the final stages as he makes his second appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series.
First reported by MMA Fighting, William Knight will face Cody Brundage on episode five of the fourth season on Sept. 1. The event will take place inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This past August, Knight finished Herdem Alacabek via TKO in the third round on DWCS. Moving to 5-0, Knight received a developmental deal from White after the bout.
The 32-year-old kept busy by competing three times since then. Most recently, “Knightmare” put away Rocky Edwards via third-round TKO at CES 60 on Jan. 24.
It came after a controversial TKO loss to Tafron Nchukwi at CFFC 80 in November 2019. Nchukwi is also scheduled for the upcoming season of DWCS, fighting Al Matavao on Sept. 8
Just two months after Knight’s first DWCS appearance, he finished Jamelle Jones by first-round TKO at CES 59 in October 2019. Jones is also a DWCS alum, losing by TKO to Mike Rodriguez during season one in 2017.
Brundage is looking to join his wife, UFC strawweight Amanda Bobby Cooper on the UFC roster. Undefeated at 5-0, Brundage finished four of his five opponents.
The 26-year-old defeated Erik Lozano in his last two bouts, winning the middle and light-heavyweight titles for Lights Out Championship.
The fourth season of DWCS is set to begin on Aug. 4.
