UFC Fight Night 122 results – Bisping vs. Gastelum

The UFC is in Shanghai, China for the very first time.  UFC Fight Night 122 takes place at the Mercedes-Benz Arena and will stream live on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 3:45 a.m. EST.  It was a very early start here on the east coast, but MyMMANews was up to catch all the action.

In the main event, former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping returned on short notice to take on Kelvin Gastelum.  The man with the most fights inside the octagon in organizational history, stepped into the cage for what may be one of his last fights.  Just three weeks after losing his title to Georges St-Pierre, Bisping was knocked out in the first round.

Jon Anik and Dan Hardy served as commentators for the event that was covered in its entirety on UFC Fight Pass.

In the night’s co-main event, hard hitter Li Jingliang defeated Zak Ottow via technical knockout in under three minutes.

Alex Garcia opened up the main card with a second round submission win over Muslim Salikhov.

Two rising prospects in their division, Zabit Magomedsharipov and Sheymon Moraes put on an absolute back and forth war.  It was Magomedsharipov who found more success with his arsenal of strikes and submission attempts and he was able to lock up a late third round finish from an anaconda choke.

Song Kenan made quick work of Bobby Nash, defeating him in just 15-seconds by way of technical knockout.

Yan Xiaonan, the first female Chinese fighter to sign with the UFC, put on a spectacular striking clinic against Kailin Curran. The fight would go the distance but Xiaonan made a statement at strawweight and seems to have a bright future in the organization.

Song Yadong knocked down Bharat Kandare with a big right hand.  Kandare tried to get back up and shoot in on Yadong who applied the front choke and seconds later the fight was over.

Shamil Abdurakhimov defeated Chase Sherman via first round knockout to get back in the win column after his last loss nearly one year ago against Derrick Lewis.

Gina Mazany recorded her first UFC win when defeated Yanan Wu via unanimous decision.  Mazany moves to 5-1 as a pro after dropping her first organizational bout to Sara McMann.

Yesterday, Rolando Dy missed weight, coming in at 148 pounds for a featherweight bout against Wuliju Buren.  Today, Dy was able to earn a unanimous decision win but will be ineligible for any post fight bonuses.

Cyril Asker defeated Yaozong Hu via second round rear-naked choke in the opening bout of the fight card to move his UFC record to .500 with two wins and two losses to his credit.
