UFC Fight Night Singapore - Who is the favorite between Askren and Maia?

UFC Fight Night Singapore – Who is the favorite, Askren or Maia?

Two of the very best grapplers on the planet will meet in the main event of UFC Fight Night Singapore on Saturday. UFC welterweights Ben Askren and Demian Maia will face off inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on October 26, each man with something to prove.

The current UFC betting odds for this UFC on ESPN+ 20 event show Askren as the favorite in the contest.

Maia comes in as the +155 underdog while Askren comes in at -185.  What this means is that if you bet $100 on Maia, you will take home an added $155.  On the flip side, you have to put down $185 on Askren to walk away with an added $100.

Askren is a former Bellator MMA and ONE Championship title holder.

But if there is one thing that Askren is looking to accomplish with this fight, it is to try and get fans to forget about his most recent loss, a flying knee knockout to Jorge Masvidal. It took only five seconds for Masvidal to floor Askren at UFC 239 in July, the fastest UFC knockout on record.

Prior to the blemish, his first professional loss, Askren was losing to former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, before submitting him with a bulldog choke.  The stoppage was controversial and many questioned whether Askren was elite enough for the UFC.

After two performances that he likely is extremely unhappy with, Askren needs to put on a show against Maia.

The Brazilian, Maia, enters the contest riding a two-fight win streak.  The former two-division title contender picked up victories over Lyman Good and Anthony Rocco Martin after dropping three consecutive bouts.  At 41-years of age, Maia is likely far from earning another title shot, but would like to prove he is still a top contender in the division.

UFC Fight Night Singapore begins at 5:30 a.m. ET on ESPN+ on Saturday, followed by the main card at 8 a.m. ET.
