UFC on FOX 21 results: Condit vs. Maia
UFC on FOX 21 results

UFC on FOX 21 took place at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada was headlined by a welterweight fight that could potentially determine the next contender for the UFC 170-pound title.

While UFC President Dana White has stated that Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson will get the first crack at champion, Tyron Woodley, it is entirely possible that the winner of tonight’s Carlos Condit and Demian Maia fight could jump the line.

And Demian Maia, just might do that.  The Brazilian submitted Condit in under two minutes into the main event, by far his most impressive win to date.

In the co-main event, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis sought to get back on the winning track when taking on Charles Oliveira.  While Pettis may have been on the chopping block after losing three in a row and having trouble early on with Oliveira, the former champ was able to capitalize in the third round and submit the Brazilian via guillotine choke to get his first win at featherweight.

Paige VanZant made her return to the UFC for the first time since appearing on Dancing With the Stars.  VanZant taking on Australia’s ‘Rowdy’ Bec Rawlings.   A kick in the second round knocked Rawlings down before VanZant unloaded with a flurry of punches before the fight was stopped and declared a win by knockout.

A rematch of one of the most exciting fights in UFC history kicked off the card on FOX as Jim Miller and Joe Lauzon go toe-to-toe once again.  Miller won the first fight and after both fighters earned victories at UFC 200 back in July it only made sense to have the two top lightweights dance again.  It was another back and forth brawl with Miller getting the decision for a second time.

Both Adam Hunter and Ryan Janes weighed in yesterday for today’s bout however the fight was scrapped after it became known that Hunter may have had a possible USADA violation.  Since there was not enough time to investigate, the bout was removed from the lineup.
