UFC on ESPN+ 6, also known as UFC Nashville, took place Saturday, March 23 from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The card was headlined by a welterweight bout between former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis and former welterweight title contender Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. The contest was the first for Pettis at 170-pounds.
For nearly two entire rounds, Thompson looked like he had the formula to make this fight look easy. Thompson continued to land shots, bloodied up Pettis in the process. Out of nowhere, Pettis shocked everybody and knocked out the former welterweight title challenger with a Superman punch off of the cage to pick up a huge win in his welterweight debut.
In the heavyweight co-main event, Curtis Blaydes bounced back from his opening round knockout loss to Francis Ngannou with a dominant victory over Justin Willis. While MyMMANews.com scored it 30-25 for Blaydes, only one judge agreed, as the other two scored it 30-27, 30-26 respectively.
