Brandon Royval looks spectacular in UFC debut
After holding three events in the span of eight days in Jacksonville, Florida, the UFC returns to Las Vegas, Nevada for UFC on ESPN 9 tonight, Saturday, May 30.
Taking place at the UFC Apex, the event is headlined by former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns. In the co-main event, Blagoy Ivanov takes on Augusto Sakai in a heavyweight clash.
The season 24 winner of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Tim Elliot welcomes newcomer Brandon Royval to the UFC.
Elliot is looking to re-enter the win column after a two-fight skid. The former title challenger’s last victory ia a second-round submission win against Mark De La Rosa at UFC 219 in 2017.
Royval makes his long-awaited UFC debut against Elliot. Taking the fight on short notive, Royval is riding a two-fight unbeaten streak inside the Legacy Fighting Alliance cage.
The 27-year-old is 5-1 in his last six bouts. His only loss during the stretch was to current UFC bantamweight Casey Kenney.

ROUND 1
The two meet in the center with no glove touch. Royval kicks and Elliott shoots for an immediate takedown. Elliot is on the side of Royval, Elliott is able to shrimp behind Royval and looks for a rear-naked choke. Royval defends and works his way to his feet. Elliott stays glued to Royval and has his back. Royval rolls for a kimura, but Elliott defends. Both guys on their feet. Elliott shoots for another takedown and is able to get Royval tot he floor. Royval gets to his feet quickly as Elliott continues to work for another takedown against the cage. Royval breaks and lands a jab. Royval spins and Elliott backs up. Elliot comes forward and swings big, followed by a takedown. Elliott has Royval on the cage, climbs up Royval and attacks the arm. Royval drops down as Elliot works a power half. Royval attempts a gramby roll and is able to get on top with a reversal. Elliot escapes and just misses a head kick. Royval lands a left hand and Elliott goes for one more takedown. The round ends with Royval attacking Elliot’s arm.

ROUND 2
Elliott lands a leg kick right away. Royval defends a takedown. The two trade and Elliot shoots again, but Royval ends up on top. Elliot uses his left leg to try and control Royval. Royval tries to get a guillotine, but Elliott scrambles. Royval continues to work the choke, but Elliott escapes. The two get to their feet and they are swinging. Elliot is able to get the fight to the ground. Elliott attacks the neck. Royval is patient and goes into full mount. Elliott scrambles, but Royval drops for a arm triangle. Elliott winces and quickly taps.
