Jamahal Hill demolishes Abreu in one

Taking place at the UFC Apex, tonight’s event is headlined by former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns. In the co-main event, Blagoy Ivanov takes on Augusto Sakai in a heavyweight clash.

In a light heavyweight matchup, Klidson Abreu clashes with Jamahal Hill.

Klidson Abreu has had a rough skid since his debut with the UFC, going 1-2 in the promotion. Abreu has previously defeated some of the weight divisions top competitors such as Johnny Walker and “Smilin” Sam Alvey, but is still looking to make his mark in the division. With experience on Abreu’s side, he enters his 20th professional MMA bout against Jamahal Hill at UFC on ESPN 9.

Hill comes into this bout undefeated in his professional mixed martial arts career. He first made waves in the Octagon when he put on an impressive display on Dana White’s Contender series, finishing Alexander Poppeck via 2nd round TKO from mounted elbows. In Hill’s last outing, he outpointed Darko Strosic at UFC on ESPN+24.

Round 1:

These fighters touch gloves and this bout is underway. Hill leads with a right jab followed by a hook upstairs. Abreu returns with a leg kick. Hill commits to a straight left followed by a straight right that wobbles Abreu early. Hill follows with a knee to the head. Abreu weathers the storm stays and fires a leg kick. Abreu is reaching with his overhand rights as Hill slips with ease. Hill is popping his jab followed by stiff straight punches thats taking their toll on Abreu. Hill teeps Abreu to the mid section. There’s a brief standoff. Hill feels out Abreu by firing jabs down the middle, switching from head to body. Hill throws a lead hook that hurts ABbreu followed by a knee to the midsection and Abreu crumbles. Hill follows him to the floor to put the stamp on his work with a few ground and pound shots to the head and the referee steps in to call this bout to a halt.
