Augosto Sakai def  Chase Sherman via tko (referee stoppage strikes) -Round 3, 4:03

Sakai unleashed in the 3rd round with seven unanswered knees and dropped Sherman who was unable to defend himself.  Mark Goddard was very late on the stoppage.

 

Light heavyweight                         Luis Henrique (10-4-1 MMA, 2-3 UFC), Ryan Spann (14-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC)

Ryan Spann def Luis Henrique via unanimous decision- 30-27 30-27 29-28

Spann controlled the fight with his jab, brutal knees to the ribs and some ground and pound after a reverse off of a takedown by Henrique

 

Lightweight                                     Evan Dunham (18-7-1 MMA, 11-7-1 UFC), Francisco Trinaldo (22-6 MMA, 12-5 UFC)

Round 1 was back and forth.  A very close round.  Round 2 Trinaldo was able to keep some distance and came inside and landed the vicious knee to the right side of Dunham.  Dunham was very gracious in defeat in what he announced would be his last fight.  Trinaldo called out Kevin Lee

Charles Olivera def Christos Giagos via  subission (RNC) round 2  3:22

Position dominance led to submission brilliance as Olivera broke the UFC record for the most submissions in history passing the legend, Royce Gracie.   Olivera scored a takedown, transitioned with a body triangle to the back and secured a quick tapout after playing mostly defense in round 1.  Olivera announced that he wants to go back down to 145 lb weightclass

 

Women’s strawweight                Randa Markos (8-6 MMA, 4-5 UFC), Marina Rodriguez (11-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC)

Markos dominated round 1  with takedowns and damaging ground and pound.   round 2 Rodriguez is keeping her distance and finding her range.  Markos is looking for the clinch.  Much closer round that was entirely on the feet.  Rodriguez ended the strong.  Round 3 Markos immediately clenches, looking for takedown.  Nice defense from Marina and an elbow on the out.  Markos does complete a takedown but is bleeding pretty good.  Nice escape from Marina and back to the standup.  Rodriguez ends the last 1:30 strong with some leg kicks and a couple jabs.  Going to the judges scorecards

Bantamweight                              Renan Barao (34-6 MMA, 9-5 UFC), Andre Ewell (13-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC)

Barao got rocked early as he walked right into a straight left.  Nice recovery as he gets a takedown and the mount.  Looking for an armbar. Good defense from the newcomer Ewell but he definitely lost the round.  Round 2  Ewell is strong and winning the exchanges.  Barao scores a takedown but not enough to steal the round.  Round 3 should decide it. Ewell is hunting.  Picking apart Barao on the feet.  Going to the scorecards.  Impressive UFC debut for the southpaw, Mr Highlight, Andre Ewell

It was Nogueira’s night as he forced the referee to step in and stop the fight after hurting Alvey with some nice boxing

 

Welterweight                              Alex Oliveira (19-4-1 MMA, 8-3-1 UFC), Carlo Pedersoli Jr. (11-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC)

Olivera wasted no time dropping Pedersoli with a combination.  Olivera pounced right on top and was landing hard ground and pound forcing the quick stoppage just 39 seconds after it started

 

Light Heavyweight                    Thiago “Marreta” Santos (18-6 MMA, 10-5 UFC) vs  Eryk Anders (11-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC)

Anders committing early to the clench and looking for a takedown.  They separate and Santos is throwing head kicks,  Santos continues with attempting power shots.  Anders defends and keeps coming forward.

round 2 Santos throwing heavy shots.  Anders to the clench.  Santos scores a takedown.  Back to the feet.  Both guys exchange big lefts.  Accidental eye poke by Santos.  Anders scores a takedown and big knee at the end of the round.  I can’t see this going all 5 rounds

round 3 Anders with a straight left that rocks Santos and then gets the takedown and gets his back looking for the RNC.  Nice reversal and now an escape.  Back to the feet.  Great fight so far.  Anders with another takedown.  Both fighters slowing down some.  Anders looking for the clench and Santos is landing short brutal elbows that hurt Anders.  Bell rings and Anders can’t even get up to make it to his corner.  Referee waves the fight off.
