UFC targets flyweights Matt Schnell and Tyson Nam for Sept. 12
A flyweight matchup between Matt Schnell and Tyson Nam is in the works for UFC’s event on Sept. 12.
First reported by MMA Fighting, the bout is likely to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Schnell is coming off a first-round knockout loss to Alexandre Pentoja this past December, snapping a four-fight win streak for “Danger”. He previously earned back-to-back submission victories over Louis Smolka and Jordan Espinosa. The 30-year-old also beat Marco Beltran and Naoki Inuoe by decision.
Nam is fresh off his first UFC win, knocking out Zarrukh Adashev in 32 seconds at UFC on ESPN 10 in June. 13. Before earning a “Performance of the Night” bonus against Adashev, Nam suffered two-straight losses to Kai Kara-France and Sergio Pettis.
Nam has competed worldwide and holds knockout wins over former Bellator champion Eduardo Dantas and former UFC title challenger Ali Bagautinov.
The bout comes after the announcement of a women’s flyweight bout between Roxanne Modafferi and Andrea Lee on the same card. There is no main event scheduled for the card yet.
