‘Big’ John McCarthy explains new unified rules of mixed martial arts


Longtime mixed martial arts referee ‘Big’ John McCarthy breaks down the new unified rules of mixed martial arts that will be implemented in 2017.

“In 2017 we’re going to start by eliminating some of the rules that have been fouls in the past. Those being first, as we look at it, heel kicks to the kidneys is now going to be legal in the sport of mixed martial arts.”

Those are just some of the changes that will be implemented into the rules that have been in effect since 2009.
