Vanessa Demopoulos talks UFC Vegas 65 win and going 3-0 in 2022
Vanessa Demopoulos ended 2022 with a win at UFC Vegas 65 to cap off a perfect year.
After two wins earlier this year, Demopoulos found herself once again as an underdog ahead of her fight with Maria Oliveira.
Just like her last two fights, Demopoulos beat the odds and got her hand raised for the third time this year.
In her fight with Oliveira, Demopoulos was able to secure a first-round takedown and control the majority of the opening five minutes to get off to a great start.
Then in the second round, Oliveira was using her reach advantage to land some heavy strikes in the early part of the round.
Prior to the fight, Demopoulos noticed that Oliveira had a habit of dropping her hands and when she threw one of her long punches that missed, Demopoulos took advantage of it by landing a big overhand right that dropped Oliveira.
After the knock down, Demopoulos swarmed Oliveira and took control the round.
Finally in the last round, both ladies had their moments in a close round that judges would give a slight edge to Oliveira, but that didn’t have an impact on the outcome as Demopoulos got the unanimous decision win.
Following the fight, Demopoulos spoke to MyMMANews about her performance, UFC commentator Michael Bisping catching her in her post fight celebration, her plans for 2023 and representing Greece.
