Wanderlei Silva: Doctor Put me on Diuretic. All is Good
Wanderlei Silva stood before the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) with his defense attorney stating he fled from a surprise drug test because he was on a diuretic for an injured wrist.
Diuretics are illegal for use in MMA due to the fact that they are capable of masking the use of performance enhancing drugs.
Silva was confident that all will be cleared up and he will fight Chael Sonnen soon.
UFC president Dana White offered his opinion saying that running away from the test is as bad as failing it, and the NSAC may suspend him for the year.
Silva arrived to the court with a high profile criminal defense attorney, the same attorney who was able to get a Hell’s Angel member clear of murder and racketeering charges.
The NSAC will come out with a decision soon on Silva’s punishment.
