Perry was originally expected to take on former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler on the card. Unfortunately, Lawler was forced out of the fight, leaving Perry in need of a new opponent.
The UFC has found Perry a dance partner in the hands of Tim “The Dirty Bird” Means who, like Lawler, is known for his habit of engaging in very pleasurable fights in the eyes of the fans.
Mike Perry (14-6), last stepped into the UFC cage in late June, when he won a one sided decision victory over Mickey Gall. This victory saw him return back to winning ways after suffering a knockout loss at the hands of Geoff Neal, and a split decision loss to Vicente Luque. Other notable wins of Perry’s 13-fight run in the UFC include wins over Hyun Gyu Lim, Danny Roberts, Jake Ellenberger, Paul Felder, and Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira. Outside the cage, the welterweight was recently the subject of allegations of domestic violence from his ex-wife, Danielle Nickerson.
Perry has been in a trouble outside-the-cage, including a troubling altercation in which he punched a man at a restaurant that was caught on camera. Additionally, Perry’s ex-wife, Danielle Nicholson, alleged domestic during their marriage in a recent interview with MMA Junkie.
Tim Means (30-12-1), on the other hand, will step into the cage with Perry with an August decision win over Laureano Staropoli at the beginning of August.. Prior to that win, he was submitted by Daniel Rodriguez. That loss set him back to losing ways, beforehand he got a submission win over former UFC welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves. Means has alternated wins and losses in his last five fights, going 3-2.
