Workout Of The Day: The Quarantine Diamond
Dustin Poirier is exactly four weeks out from his title fight against Charles Oliveira at UFC 269. “The Diamond” has been back in Florida doing his training camp, and once again working with Strength and Conditioning guru Phil Daru.
Back in January, Dustin had to quarantine in Vegas before heading to Abu Dhabi to face off against Conor McGregor at UFC 257. While he was stuck in his hotel room, his strength coach, Phil Daru, sent him a hotel workout to do.
The workout is very fight specific following a UFC main event- 5x 5 minute rounds with active rest/ recovery between the rounds, working specifically on the core. The workout consists of 10 exercises with a duration of 30 second each totaling out to 5 minutes. The exercises in the workout include shadow boxing, sprawls, penetration shots, and other sport specific movements. The core exercises that follow each round are front planks, side planks, and v-ups.
The workout and link to follow along are below. You can follow their current fight camp and other previous fight camps on Dustin’s Instagram and Phil’s Instagram and YouTube pages.
