XFC 43 Main Card Preview
XFC 43 On NBC Sports Main Card
Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC) 43 is back with a stacked card on NBC Sports. First, flyweight action kicks off with Enzo Perez going against Austin Bashi. Second, the lightweight division is in the crosshairs, as UFC vet, Kurt Holobaugh takes on Joziro Boye. The action stays alive in the XFC lightweight tournament with Jarel Askew facing Kenny Cross. Next, two more former UFC athletes go at it, when Jessica Aguilar squares off with Danielle Taylor in the co main event. Ultimately the night caps off with a bantamweight barnburner. Andre Soukhamthath will go to battle against Guilherme Faria in the main event.
Enzo Perez vs. Austin Bashi
The ultra-competitive flyweight division is front and center, as young fighters look to establish their names in the MMA atmosphere. Consequently, Perez’s ability to close the distance is nothing short of incredible. With a suffocating top pressure, the M-1 Global vet will look to impose his will on Bashi. In contrast, Bashi needs to keep the fight at a distance, especially since this is his first professional fight. Despite showing toughness in his finish over Gary Wooden, it revealed Bashi’s weakness to takedowns and top pressure. The subsequent slam and control Wooden showed in the first round, lends credence to Perez’s style. Either way, both competitors bring exciting technique to the cage.
Kurt Holobough vs. Joziro Boye
Momentum is an important metric to determine where a fighter stands in their respective careers. Currently Holobough is on a 3-fight losing streak. On the other hand, Boye is the opposite, riding an 8-fight win streak. An explosive starter, Boye has many first round finishes to his name. Interestingly, both athletes have similar records, but Boye’s ability to remain victorious since 2015 is downright impressive.
Jarel Askew vs. Kenny Cross
The XFC Lightweight Tournament moves on with Askew taking on the dangerous, Cross. Since competing professionally, Askew has been alternating wins and losses since about 2015. However, Cross has been consistent and busy recently. Last competing in August of 2020, Cross’s wrestling style and striking acumen provide a difficult puzzle for opponents. The first round of the XFC 43 Lightweight Tournament will conclude on Veteran’s Day, featured on NBC Sports.
Danielle Taylor vs. Jessica Aguilar
In the co-main event, a pair of UFC veterans in Taylor and Aguilar square off against each other. Both competitors come in with heaps of experience, both have competed against the current UFC strawweight champion, Weili Zhang. Despite coming up short, Taylor went the distance, while Aguilar faltered in the first round to Zhang. Since Aguilar is 1-5 in her last six appearances, surely with her back against the wall, fans can expect a big performance. Going 3-3 in her last six bouts, Taylor has also gone five rounds which only benefits her conditioning in this big spot.
XFC 43 Main Event – Andre Soukhamthath vs. Guilherme Faria
With a professional career stemming from 2011, Soukhamthath has a style that’s always been a crowd pleaser. But recently, “The Asian Sensation” has endured a few setbacks. First, his loss to Sean O’Malley was thought to be a product of poor fight IQ. Additionally, after dropping decision losses to Montel Jackson, and Su Mudajeri, it was clear Soukhamthath had some progress to make. Now he finds himself in the main event of XFC 43 on a brand new network, with all eyes on him.
Above all, Faria is an early starter and an aggressive first round finisher. With definite power in his hands, the Brazilian has a clear path to victory. However, for the better part of five years, Faria has been alternating wins and losses. Coming off a TKO loss to the formidable, Elismar Lima, Faria is too looking to bounce back and pick up a statement win. Either way fans can expect XFC 43 to deliver the fireworks as we await the results on MyMMANews.com!
