Report: Zabit Magomedsharipov gets new UFC contract
Coming off his incredible performance against Kyle Bochniak at UFC 223, featherweight Zabit Magomedsharipov is reportedly getting rewarded. According to Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting, Magomedsharipov has signed a new deal with the UFC. Helwani reports that while contract terms were not disclosed, Magomedsharipov’s new deal is for more than four fights.
Currently 3-0 in the UFC and 15-1 in his career, Magomedsharipov has quickly risen through the featherweight division and his thrilling win over Bochniak could lead to the UFC putting him in the spotlight in his future fights. After his win at 223, he called out 11th-ranked Yair Rodriguez and Helwani reports that the UFC is also interested in making the fight happen, but nothing is official yet.
While it is likely that Rodriguez is next for Magomedsharipov, the UFC may have a new star on their hands but now it’s on them to give him matchups that will help him further establish him if he comes out victorious. If Rodriguez is next for him, a victory will likely catapult the 14th-ranked Magomedsharipov into the top 10.
