Ashlee Evans-Smith, Korean Zombie, others removed from UFC roster

Four fighters have been removed from the UFC roster following the latest UFC fight card in Singapore. While not all competed this past weekend, the names of those released by the promotion have been announced via the UFC Roster Watch which is analgorithm-based Twitter account.

UFC women’s bantamweight Ashlee Evans-Smith, former two-time featherweight title contender Chan Sung Jung “The Korean Zombie, Tafon Nchukwi, and John Hathaway, have all been released according to the account.

Zombie announced his retirement after a third-round loss to former champion Max Holloway in the third-round of their scheduled five-round headlining fight on Saturday. He leaves the sport with a professional mixed martial arts record of 17-8.

The 36-year-old Evans-Smith went 1-5 in her last six bouts with the promotion, with her overall mixed martial arts record now standing at 6-6.

Nchukwi, 6-4, earned a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2020. He then went 2-4 in the promotion over the next three years.

Hathway, 18-3, has not fought for the UFC since 2014 so it was odd that he was included in the list, but here we are nonetheless.
