Bellator 225: Nick Newell sends home crowd into frenzy with submission win

On Saturday night, Aug. 24, 2019, Bellator MMA returns to action with Bellator 225. The event takes place at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn.

In a preliminary fight that has garnered a ton of interest, Nick Newell makes his Bellator debut against Corey Browning. Newell signed a one-fight deal with the promotion in hopes of turning into a more long term relationship. After losing a unanimous decision to Alex Munoz last July on the Contender Series, “Notorious” bounced back with a first-round submission win over Antonio Castillo at CES 56 in May. Newell is fighting just 10 minutes from home for this one and looks to have hundreds of supporters in the crowd.

Browning has made the most of his opportunity with Bellator, picking up finishes of Kevin Ferguson Jr. and Aaron Chalmers, and looks to pick up the biggest win of his career against a veteran in Newell.
