Bellator 258 Jose Augusto and Lorenz Larkin media day quotes

Bellator 258 takes place on Friday, May 7th. The event emanates from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, and broadcasts on Showtime. A virtual media session was held earlier on by Bellator MMA today and I was able to speak with several fighters. I talked with Jose Augusto and Lorenz Larkin ahead of their respective bouts. The excerpts from those interactions can be found below.

Jose Augusto and Lorenz Larkin

I’m just kind of curious because I’m noticing Jose trains out of the Pitbull Brothers gym there. Patricky Pitbull competes just before Jose there.

I’m kind of wondering how much that galvanizes his competitive spirit and motivates him when teammates are on the same card as him?

“I feel like I’m learning because Patricky’s here. The composure that Patricio and Patricky have before the fight. Before my last fight, I was a little bit nervous. Although more of it came from wanting to be done with the diet. And this time, I don’t have that anxiety now. I’m a lot more calmer. I feel more experienced and I feel the good energy from having Patricky Pitbull here.”

Original opponent Costello van Steenis falling out and this bout being at middleweight

“What I will say is, this is just like a one-off. But as far as Costello (van Steenis). He’s been great. Well, the thing is I have a lot of respect for him because he let me know once when he got hurt. He was really transparent about everything. He messaged me and I told him I was looking forward to that fight too because he’s an exciting fighter. I’ve watched his fights.”

“So I told him, ‘I’m sorry to hear that you’re hurt. Hopefully, you get back all 100%. If we can make something happen in the future, then I’m totally down to do it.’ So that’s what I did say to him. But yeah, as far as me staying at 185 this is just a one-off. But I did tell him if we can make something happen in the future, we’ll  still make that fight happen.”
