Bellator London: Fabian “The Assassin” Edwards Post Fight Scrum

The undefeated run continues as Fabian “The Assassin” Edwards ground his way to a razor close split decision victory over long time rival Mike “Sea Bass” Shipman today at Bellator London.

Both fighters left it all in the cage but the crowd and many others were not too happy with the outcome. A large number of spectators thought that the decision had easily gone in the way of Shipman due to constant pressure over the three rounds against the cage and on the ground. Edwards landed multiple strikes on the feet and coming into the third round he really piled on the pressure. I was intrigued to find out what Edwards and his corner were thinking going into the third round?

“My brother came and said listen. It may be one one or whatever but you need to go out there and go. So I was trying to go, I was trying to hurt him, I’ll have to watch the fight back, I felt like I had him hurt, I don’t know if I did or I didn’t, but I felt like I had him hurt at times.”

After the decision had been announced, Edwards jumped over the cage and celebrated with his teammates. This did not seem the case for some of Shipman’s teammates spectating from the VIP area. A small number of men jumped over the media area railings knocking over chairs, tables and injuring a female journalist peacefully watching the celebrations. The friends of Shipman explained they thought Edwards jumped the cage “Khabib style” and attacked Shipman’s coaches.

What a fantastic year for “The Assassin” who continues to remain undefeated and cant wait to see him again.
