This coming weekend, grab your Gi, grab your friends, and head out to the Buckeye State for a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminar in support of cancer awareness.

Kuhn is the gym manager and head BJJ instructor of East Coast Martial Arts in Canton, Ohio.

“I originally started this event when my good friend, owner of our gym and fellow martial artist Steve Hindman was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2011. It was our way to give back and raise awareness,” Kuhn said.

“He went through intense treatment and multiple surgeries. The first doctor gave him six months to live, he fired him on the spot. Unfortunately he passed away in January of 2015. He was a fighter and proved so many wrong . Over the past four events we have enough raised over $20,000 for the Showers Family Center for Blood Disorders and Childhood Cancer at Akron children’s hospital,” Kuhn said.
