CFFC 81 results: James Gonzalez shocks Pat Sabatini to capture featherweight title
On Saturday night, Feb. 1, 2020, CFFC returns to action with their 81st event, which features three championship bouts, along with multiple prospects knocking on the door of a life changing phone call.
CFFC 81 takes place at Parx Casino in Bensalem, Penn. and airs on UFC Fight Pass.
In the main event, James Gonzalez stepped in on just days notice to face featherweight champion Pat Sabatini. The fight was fast and furious from the jump and Gonzalez was working for submissions off his back. Eventually, Gonzalez had Sabatini’s arm trapped and cranked, snapping his opponent’s arm. The referee stopped the fight immediately and the Contender Series alum picked up the biggest win of his career in a shocking upset.

In the co-main event, Kyle Daukaus improved to 9-0 with another dominant victory as he submitted a game Nolan Norwood with a d’arce choke in the second round to retain his CFFC middleweight title. It was Daukaus’ eighth career submission win as a UFC call, or at the very least, a return to the Contender Series looks to be in the 26-year-old’s future.

There is currently no bantamweight champion in the CFFC organization. After the challenger Herbeth Sousa missed weight, he could not win the title from Alexander Keshtov. Sousa used a tremendous grappling game plan to sweep the judges’ scorecards and pick up fifth straight win.
In a lightweight bout, Nazim Sadykhov and Elijah Harris had an incredibly fun battle for 15 minutes. After a back-and-forth first round, Sadykhov nearly had Harris finished with a tight rear naked choke, but Harris somehow survived the position to go onto the third round.
