Charles Johnson discusses his UFC Vegas 67 matchup against Jimmy Flick
Charles Johnson came out of his last fight in great shape, so when the UFC offered him another fight five weeks later at UFC Vegas 67, he gladly accepted it.
Of course, Johnson’s matchup will have a lot of eyes on it as his opponent has a huge fan base as he takes on Jimmy Flick, who will be making his return to the octagon for the first time since 2020.
Johnson is preparing for the best version of Flick so he’s not looking too far into his long lay off. In fact, he knows that Flick is a tough as they coming so he’s preparing for a hard fight.
While camp hasn’t been too long for Johnson, he’s definitely made the best of it.
Johnson was planning to see his family in Sweden for the holidays and so he didn’t let his short notice fight change up his plans.
Instead, Johnson spent a few days at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas before flying to Sweden where he trained at Ilir Latifi’s gym alongside a number of other profession fighters from Sweden.
After the holidays, Johnson came back over to the United States to put the final touches on his camp.
Now camp is officially wrapped up as it is now fight week for UFC Vegas 67, which is the first UFC event of 2023.
Prior to the event, Johnson spoke with MyMMANews about his matchup with Flick, his training ahead of the fight and he also defended Fox Sports sports commentator Skip Bayless after he faced backlash for his comments following the injury to Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.
