Connor Dixon, Cave Grappling

Connor Dixon on Ground Zero Grappling, Kyle Daukaus matchup, and The Cave

Ground Zero Grappling holds their fifth event this weekend and at their usual spot on the waterfront in South Philadelphia.  GZ5 will feature UFC veteran, Kyle “the D’Arce Knight” Daukaus taking on Connor “the Caveman” Dixon in the main event.

Kyle Daukaus has 13 professional MMA wins with 10 of them coming via submission.  Six of those tapouts were due to the D’arce choke. Kyle has been with Martinez BJJ for many years and earned his blackbelt under head coach Will Martinez. Kyle knows that a fight and a submission grappling match are not the same, and he surely knows that he is in for a tough match against someone that he has rolled with in the past.

Connor Dixon is also a lifelong martial artist as he began training at 7 years old.  Dixon is a Bellator veteran but these days, he has stuck to grappling the toughest competition he can find, and opening his new facility, The Cave Grappling Club.  Connor is a blackbelt under Daniel Gracie and his school carries their affiliation.  They are located in a nice spot on Delsea Drive in Gloucester County, convenient to several municipalities.

MyMMANews checked in with Connor Dixon to ask him about his upcoming match at Ground Zero Grappling 5 and his new venture.  He tells us…

“Kyle is a big, tough guy.  Real long.  Super long arms.  I’ve competed here at Ground Zero a few times and every time I’ve gone against very tough guys like Kyle Myers, Kyle Hughes, Andrew Kochel.  Obviously with Daukaus, you’ve got to keep yourself out of that area where he can reach with those long arms and fill those gaps.”

Please watch our full interview on the link above.  Connor chats on some of everything.  I want to wish both he and his partner Jennifer a very healthy and beautiful upcoming birth of their first child.

Ground Zero Grappling 5 is loaded with exciting matches from the kids all the way up to the blackbelts.  Stop by the Sheetmetal WorkersUnion Hall and grab a ticket for a fun night!
