Conor McGregor on UFC return: Story “is just beginning” and is “far from over”
Conor McGregor spoke to Sky Sports Boxing yesterday to give an update on what is next for the former double champion, and to catch up on his recovery following the injury he suffered at UFC 264.
McGregor tells Sky Sports, “the body is doing good” and that soon he will “up the training a little bit, bit by bit.”
“I should be able to kick now, I have another CT scan now in the coming days, and then I’ll be cleared to kick. Once I can kick and grapple, I’ll be back in no time.”
When the question of boxing came up, McGregor told Sky Sports, “my first love in combat sports is boxing, so you know, I had such a great time the last time I was out there. Obviously, my return will be inside the octagon for the UFC and mixed martial arts.”
McGregor continues, “that story is far from over. In fact, that story is just being wrote. It is just beginning.”
McGregor (22-6-0) has gone 1-3 in his last four bouts under the UFC banner. In his most recent outings, he suffered consecutive losses to Dustin Poirier both in 2021 and has been out on recovery since.
As he looks to return, lots of names have been thrown out there including the likes of Dan Hooker, Michael Chandler, Charles Oliveria, Tony Ferguson, and even Henry Cejudo.
As Conor McGregor says that his story is just beginning, where do you see him going from here?
