Former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor promised that his UFC comeback will be “the greatest return in combat sports.”
McGregor has not fought since July 2021, when he broke his leg in his trilogy fight against Conor McGregor. After two years away from the cage, McGregor is now back on the radar of UFC fans since he is one of the coaches on the 31st season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” Later this year, the Irishman will be stepping back into the cage when he takes on Michael Chandler, who is the opposing coach for this season of TUF.
Speaking to UFC reporter Megan Olivia in an interview with the promotion’s YouTube channel, McGregor promised the fans that his comeback to the cage will be “the greatest return in combat sports,” and he promised to finish Chandler using his powerful kicks.
“Not only just a return, the greatest return in combat sports. This is gonna be – I’m gonna kick this guy in the head. He’s just tailor made for being kicked all over the place, and that’s what I’m aiming for. I’m aiming to wrap this steel bar around the opponent. You’re gonna see a visual of the leg hanging off, and then you’re gonna see a visual of a head hanging off,” McGregor said (via MMAjunkie.com).
McGregor said he is hoping that this comeback isn’t a one-off, and he is actually telling the fans that if it’s up to him, he’ll fight 100 more times.
“What do I hope for in this world? I hope for a hundred more fights. I hope for consistency. I hope for a run. I’ve had this on, off, on, off for the last while. I just want to get this nice consistency going. And I’m hoping now when I come back this is where it’s at,” McGregor said.
Do you think Conor McGregor will beat Michael Chandler in his comeback to the UFC?
