UFC Vegas 60, Cory Sandhagen

Cory Sandhagen claps back at Marlon Vera: ‘I’d be glad to whoop your ass’

Cory Sandhagen is open to facing Marlon Vera next time out.

Recently, Sandhagen and Vera were logical next opponents after both men picked up wins over Song Yadong and Dominick Cruz, respectively. The two men then were taking shots at one another with Vera recently claiming that the UFC offered him Sandhagen on November 5 but it was Sandhagen who declined the offer.

Now, Sandhagen has taken to Instagram to respond to Vera and said he wants a full camp and makes it clear he isn’t scared of him.

“We got Chito, who’s trying to make me sound like I’m the guy that’s afraid to fight him,” Sandhagen said. “The UFC offered me that fight on three weeks’ notice after it was about a month after I had fought Yadong. Chito, you called out guys in the top five and then fought down in the rankings and fought Cruz. Do I blame you for doing that? Of course I don’t. It’s the draw. But don’t try to make it sound like I’m afraid of you, bro. You can get me after a full camp, and I’d be glad to whoop your ass sometime around February.”

In the video, Sandhagen believes Sean O’Malley will get the next title shot which will allow him to face Marlon Vera in a number one contender fight.

Cory Sandhagen (15-4) returned to the win column last time out with his TKO doctor stoppage win over Yadong and prior to that, he lost a decision to Petr Yan for the interim belt and dropped a split to TJ Dillashaw. In his UFC tenure, Sandhagen is 8-3 with notable wins over Frankie Edgar, Marlon Moraes, Raphael Assuncao, and John Lineker among others.
