Dan Ige, UFC Vegas 86

Dan Ige one-punch KO’s Andre Fili early in UFC Vegas 86 co-main event

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, February 10, 2024, for UFC Vegas 86, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.

Headlining the event is a middleweight matchup between no. 11 ranked Jack Hermansson (23-8) and Joe Pyfer (12-2).

Co-headlining the event was a featherweight scrap between no. 13 ranked Dan Ige (18-7) and Andre Fili (23-11).

Both Ige and Fili came into tonight’s co-main event having gone 2-1 over their latest three appearances; Ige defeating the likes of Damon Jackson (KO) and Nate Landwehr (UD), before losing to no. 10 ranked Bryce Mitchell (UD) last September, while Fili defeated Bill Algeo (SD) in September of 2022, before losing to Nathaniel Wood (UD) in July of last year, his most recent performance being a first round stoppage win over Lucas Almeida (TKO) in December.

Official Result: Dan Ige def. Andre Fili via KO (punch) at 2:43 of round one

Fili looks to get his straight punches and round kicks to the body going in the early goings of the bout. He lands a couple good check left hooks as Ige is coming in, and lands a nice jab following about two minutes in.

Ige counters Fili’s next jab however with a thunderous right hand counter that floors him on the spot, following up with a single punch for the first round stoppage.

Dan Ige rebounds from defeat with a stunning first round knockout victory of Andre Fili tonight at UFC Vegas 86, improving to 3-1 in his last four. He’ll certainly keep his spot in the rankings after a performance like this.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
