Dana White’s Contender Series – Season 6, Week 8 results

Tonight on Dana White’s Contender Series, 10 more fighters will look to earn contracts with the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion, the UFC.

Week 8 of Season 6 features four male, and one female bout, for a total of five fights.  The September 13 fight card takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN+.

Montana native Marnic Mann has had four amateur fights and five professional fights and she has yet to lose a single bout. Not only is undefeated, but she has also finished nearly every opponent she’s faced.

In her last two wins, Mann was able to get the job done in a major UFC feeder promotion in LFA and those wins got the attention of the UFC matchmakers.

Due to all of her success, the UFC asked Mann to participate on Dana White’s Contender Series for a chance to earn a UFC contract and she accepted.

Prior to the fight, Mann spoke with MyMMANews to discuss her upcoming matchup with Brasil, the MMA scene in Montana and all the success she’s had in her career.

A few weeks ago on Aug. 13, Trevor Peek took on former UFC fighter Khama Worthy and in the lead up to the fight, Peek contracted coronavirus and ended up with a lung infection.

Going into the fight, Peek knew he wouldn’t be able to go the distance due to his lung infection, so he made the decision that it was going to be all or nothing in the first round. That mentality ended paying off in a big way.

In the fight, Peek was able to get a massive knockout win in the final seconds of the opening round to not only earn the biggest win of his career, but he also earned a chance to make the UFC.

Just hours after beating Worthy, the UFC offered Peek a short notice fight on Sept. 13 on Dana White’s Contender Series and he accepted the fight against Malik Lewis.  MyMMANews reporter John Eric Poli spoke with Peek ahead of the fight, check it out here.

Last year, Brandon Lewis was invited to fight on Dana White’s Contender Series and had the chance to earn a UFC contract. Unfortunately for Lewis, he suffered a loss on the show to Mo Miller and UFC president Dana White did not selected him for a UFC contract.

Now one year later, Lewis has once again been invited to participate on the show and this time he’s planning on leaving Las Vegas and to head back home to Tampa, Fla. with a UFC contract. He spoke with MyMMANews about the opportunity tonight.
