Tuesday Night Contender Series, Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series begins tomorrow

Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series: Season 2, Week 6 Results

Another 10 fighters hit the Ultimate Fighter Gym in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 24 for a chance at a UFC contract. This week’s Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series was headlined by former CES MMA champion Nick Newell vs. Alex Munoz.

Newell’s story is one that dreams are made of. Born with one hand, Newell has excelled in mixed martial arts to compete with some of the very best. With a win he had a shot at becoming the first fighter signed to the UFC with this type of disability.  While he put up a great fight, Newell did not have enough to keep Alex Munoz off of him.  Munoz wins the fight unanimously.

Chris Birchler of Carnicella MMA in New Jersey squared up against Jim Crute in the co-main event. Birchler was coming off a split decision loss to former UFC fighter Matt Hamill earlier this year at Maverick MMA 6.  His opponent Jim Crute was the first Australian to compete on the show.  Birchler was winning the fight early on with his striking but got caught by Crute who finished the fight at 4:23 in the first.
