Demetrious Johnson says family will come watch him fight for first time
ONE Championship’s ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs Moraes III on Prime Video will serve as the promotion’s historic first-ever live on-ground show to be held in the United States.
The May 5 event in Broomfield, Colorado will also mark a milestone for one of the best mixed martial artists to have ever competed. In the 29 professional MMA bouts that former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has fought, “Mighty Mouse” has never had his family come attend live to witness the action.
That will all change next month when Johnson meets Adriano Moraes in a trilogy bout for the promotion’s flyweight title.
In an interview with FOX 13 Seattle, “Mighty Mouse” said his friends and family will be attendance to watch him compete.
“It’s amazing. Going over to ONE Championship and traveling over to Asia and being like a foreign athlete for the first time in my career, it was a good thing I got to do. And now, to do it back here in America on U.S. soil is absolutely amazing. My friends, my family, it’s actually the first time they have chosen to actually see me compete.”
