Desiree Yanez full Bellator 250 media day press conference

Desiree Yanez is starting fresh.

The 30-year-old is set to make her promotional debut and her flyweight debut against Veta Arteaga on the Bellator 250 main card on Thursday, Oct. 29. After dropping a split decision loss to Melissa Martinez in a strawweight title fight at Comvate 51 last December, Yanez is moving on.

“People ask me all the time about the Melissa fight and I’m like, ‘That was old news, I’m here doing bigger and better things, new weight class with one of the biggest promotions in the world, what more can I ask for,'” Yanez said.
“New chapter and I’m so ready for it.”
Yanez finished 5-2 as a strawweight. She racked up four-straight wins between October 2018 and June 2019.
According to Yanez, she is not stressing about her weight like she has in the past.
“I don’t even feel like I am about to cut weight. besides all the media, like being here, quarantining, it kind of just doesn’t feel like I’m about to even fight. I get to just go have fun,” Yanez said. “I’m never going back to 115. I don’t even know how I made it. Looking back at it, I’m like, ‘Gosh, I really was cutting into my strength and cutting into my energy.”
