Dustin Poirier vs Justin Gaethje to headline UFC event in April

While the UFC has yet to identify the exact location, a UFC on FOX fight card will be held on April 14 between top lightweights Dustin Poirier (22-5) and Justin Gaethje (18-1).

Gaethje, who entered the UFC in 2017 after a title run with the World Series of Fighting, put on two fantastic performances under the Zuffa banner last year.  His “Fight of the  Year’ award winning bout against Michael Johnson in July later led to Gaethje appearing as a coach on the most recent season of the Ultimate Fighter.

He would then fight opposing TUF coach and former UFC champion Eddie Alvarez, which again, was “fight of the year” worthy.  The third round loss to Alvarez was the first in Gaethje’s career.

Poirier is coming off a fantastic stoppage of former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis at UFC Fight Night 120 in November 2017.  He too fought Alvarez, however the fight was ruled a no-contest and yet to be run back a second time.

Dustin Poirier vs Justin Gaethje is sure to produce fireworks when the fight goes down this Spring.  With the fight scheduled to headline the UFC on FOX card it has been scheduled for five, five-minute rounds.  Stay tuned for more information.
