Glory 76 Results. Adegbuyi TKO’s Badr Hari in third round

After some restructuring in Glory’s team and staff, the world’s elite kickboxing promotion is back and better than ever. Home to some of today’s kickboxing’s best and legends on their roster, Glory closed the year of events presenting an astonishingly stacked card with Glory 76: Badr vs. Benny. The main event of the evening took place between world kickboxing legend, #3 ranked Badr Hari taking on #2 ranked heavyweight contender, Benjamin Adegbuyi.

Both, Hari and Adegbuyi had a lot at stake in their main event bout. With both fighters having fought the current heavyweight champion, Rico Verhoeven, twice. In addition to the electrifying main event, Glory’s welterweight title was up for grabs as Cedric Doumbe defended his title against Karim Ghajji.

After scoring 3 knockdowns in the bout, Doumbe finished the job and defended his Glory Welterweight title via 3rd round knockout. In addition to the two amazing headlining fights, Glory 76 also featured a battle of the big boys! A 4-man heavyweight tournament featuring some of the divisions finest went down with Levi Rigters taking on Marciano Bhadwandass. Ritgers would make easy work of Bhadwandass, securing a second-round KO giving him a short resting period while watching his next opponent of the evening. In the other heavyweight tournament semi-finals, #5 ranked Antonio Plazibat faced #9 ranked Nordine Mahieddine.

After 3 rounds, the bout was officially ruled a draw, which meant a decisive 4th round would be added for an official winner. Mahieddine did enough in the 4th round to get the judge’s nod.

The Glory 76 heavyweight finals took place between Levi Ritgers taking on Nordine Mahieddine. Ritgers would only need a matter of minutes to dispatch Mahieddine, via first-round knockout.

MAIN EVENT- Badr Hari (109.3 kg) vs. Benjamin Adegbuyi (117.1 kg) Round 1: Hari comes forward from the gate. Adegbuyi chops Hari’s legs early. Hari is utilizing his legendary power punches early. Adegbuyi lands a right hand that backs Hari up a step. Both fighters are swinging early and landing big hands upstairs. Hari is using his experience to diversify his strikes but looks a bit rusty. Adegbuyi stays active walking through Hari’s punches to close an entertaining first round.

Round 2: Hari catches Adegbuyi’s leg and takes out the other leg, dropping him to the canvas. Adegbuyi resets and resumes but walks into an explosive right hand from Badr Hari. The fighters clinch momentarily. Hari creates space and erupts with punches upstairs that wobbles and floors Adegbuyi in the closing seconds.

Round 3: Hari makes it known he wants to finish the fight and starts the round very aggressively. Adegbuyi switches stances and times, Hari, perfectly. Making Hari pay for his aggression, landing a right hand that immediately drops the kickboxing legend, Hari. He beats the count and gets to his feet, but Adegbuyi doesn’t give Hari time to recover. Adegbuyi jumps on a wounded Hari and steps on the gas to finish his foe, dropping him again. This time Hari would admit defeat and remained crouched, resting on a corner post, and shaking his head, signaling for the referee to stop the fight.

Official result: Benjamin Adegbuyi defeats Badr Hari via 3rd round TKO.

Antonio Plazibat (110.2 kg) vs. Nordine Mahieddine (105.4 kg)

Official result: Ruled a draw after 3 rounds. Tournament rules add a 4th round. Nordine Mahieddine wins round 4 declaring him the winner of the fight. Score-(29-28)

Official result: Levi Ritgers wins via 2nd round KO (2:30 of round 2)
