Gurdarshan Mangat and Eko Roni Saputra

Gurdarshan Mangat and Eko Roni Saputra exchange barbs on possible ONE fight

Gurdarshan Mangat and Eko Roni Saputra are going back and forth a bit on social media. This after the latter called out the former for a fight.

Saputra’s motivation to campaign for a Gurdarshan Mangat bout is because of Mangat beating Roshan Mainam. Someone who is an Evolve MMA teammate of Saputra’s.

This move is seen by many as uncharacteristic for Eko Roni Saputra. Someone who normally doesn’t challenge other fighters directly and more just keeps his nose to the proverbial grindstone.

Gurdarshan Mangat responded to Saputra’s callout by saying “it will be one of his worst decisions” and some tweets emerged throughout.

Per Onefc.com, Mangat dubs this a dangerous callout. He said that it creates tumultuous territory for Saputra to be seeking redemption for his training partner.

That it could create an overly emotional mindset and cloud better judgment.

Mangat sports a 16-3 MMA record with a 3-1 record in the ONE Circle specifically.

Saint Lion is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over the aforementioned Roshan Mainam at ONE Dangal in May.

Saputra lost his debut in the ONE Circle but has put together a four-fight winning streak since.

Eko Roni Saputra has a 4-1 mixed martial arts record overall. He has fought his entire pro-MMA career under the ONE Championship banner.

He has a one hundred percent finishing rate with all stoppages transpiring in the first frame of these contests.

Dynamite last stepped out to compete against Ramon Gonzales. Saputra bested him via rear-naked choke a bit over four minutes into their November prizefight.

If this bout were to be booked, it could definitely be a consequential bout. Something that could inform the ONE Championship flyweight divisional hierarchy.

Both of these men are teetering on the precipice of entering the top five at flyweight. A good performance in their next outing could easily vault them there.

Do you want Gurdarshan Mangat and Eko Roni Saputra to fight? Who wins if the bout is booked?
