Henry Corrales beats Aiden Lee via unanimous decision after anti-climatic end

Bellator 273: Bader vs. Moldavsky goes down tonight from the Footprint Center in Phoenix.

Bellator interim heavyweight champion Valentin Moldavsky attempts to unify the belt against undisputed champ Ryan Bader, who returns to heavyweight after losing the light heavyweight title and falling short in the Bellator light heavyweight grand prix.

The co-main consists of former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson as he is set to take on Islam Mamedov.

In this highlighted recap Henry Corrales takes on Aiden Lee on the main card.

Corrales (19-6), got back in the win column in his last outing against Vladyslav Parubchenko at Bellator 268, Corrales picked up a unanimous decision. The Fight Ready representative has won seven of his past 10 bouts and remains a tough fight at 145 pounds. Corrales wins by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 37% of his career total (19). His list of Bellator wins: Aaron Pico, Andy Main and Cody Bollinger.

Lee (10-5), last competed on Oct. 23, when he submitted Alexander Osetrov with a rear-naked choke in the first round of their Bellator 269.  Lee tends to lean towards a submission to gain his victories, 60% of his career total (10). His methods of choice: five rear-naked chokes and one heel hook. Lee holds two other victories by knockout or technical knockout and two more by decision.

ROUND 1:

Round 1 HERE WE GO. Corrales opens up with a couple leg kick, Lee returns with his own. Corrales clips Lee and it drops the Englishman, Corrales lets him up. Corrales continues to attack the legs of Lee. Lee connects on the chin of Corrales, the Phoenix native eats it. Lee doubling up on his jab. A lot of lateral movement from Aiden Lee, Corrales holding the centre of the cage. End of the round, both men open up as the bell goes.

ROUND 2:

Bell goes, round 2 starts. Lee needs to be more active in this round, and he has done do far in the first minute. Lee starting to get his combinations together in round two. Corrales lands a clean right and Lee shakes it off. Lee shoots for the single leg, Corrales reverses the position and pushes him up against the cage. Corrales has ended up on top after Lee tries to roll to reverse the position unsuccessfully. Henry Corrales wants Aiden Lee back on the feet. A good finish to the round for Corrales.

ROUND 3:

Aiden Lee potentially needing a finish in round three, he needs to get busy in the final round. You can sense the urgency from Lee as he tries to land his combinations and get it going in round three. Corrales accidentally pokes Lee in the eye and we currently have a stop to the fight, Lee seems really distressed. The doctor has attended to Aiden Lee in the cage and is accessing the situation. Boo’s echo from the arena. Five minutes pass and Miek Beltran asks Lee is he can continue. Lee asked for an extra minute to cleat is eye, but unfortunately the time is up and Mike Beltran stops the fight and we will go the judges’ scorecards for the official decision.

Official Result: Henry Corrales def. Aiden Lee via unanimous technical decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)
