Jake Paul enlisting the help of Jorge Masvidal to train for upcoming Ben Askren bout
Youtuber Jake Paul is beginning his training for his upcoming boxing match against former UFC fight Ben Askren. The bout was announced a couple of weeks ago and right away got the conversation going. Many believed that Paul chose Askren because of his lacking boxing skills. Arguably his most notable moment in the UFC was when he was knocked out in record time by Jorge Masvidal. That knockout may go down as the most unreal of all time. So as Paul prepares for his match with Askren, who better to bring in to teach him than Masvidal?

“He knocked out my opponent @benaskren in 5 seconds and now will help me do it in less time,” Paul wrote “@gamebredfighter is teaching me his secrets… April 17th the fight will last less than 4 seconds and then we coming for @natediaz209”
The call-out to Diaz at the end of the post is interesting. Perhaps Paul wants Diaz next, or maybe that is a jab at Masvidal rematching Diaz, either was it seems these two are focusing on Paul beating Askren at first. In the video, Paul says to Masvidal “I’m going to beat your time.” That is in reference to the quickness of his KO on Askren.
“I’ve never boxed professionally,” Askren told TMZ. “At the end of the day, I’ve been world-class at multiple things, I’m a great wrestler, I went to the Olympics, I was a great mixed martial artist, I won belts at world championship belts in two organizations, I wanted to be a world-class disc golfer, I was top ten in the world two times, and if I want to beat an amateur in boxing it’s not going to take more than three months to figure out how to beat a damn amateur at boxing I’ll tell you that.”
Askren admitted that he saw the video of Paul and Masvidal but didn’t give it too much attention.
