Interview with Austin Liu above
At the age of 24-years-old Austin Liu is a professional mixed martial arts fighter out of Fresno, California. Liu had five wins with only four defeats as an amateur before turning professional. Liu has had a little bit of a rocky start into his professional career but is a very young fighter and is looking to make 2021 the best year of his fighting career.
I started off the conversation by having Austin tell us a little bit about himself.
”I am a professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter out of Fresno, California and I’m currently 0-2 but looking to make 2021 my best year yet.”
How did you get into Mixed Martial Arts?
”When I was around five years old I started watching Jackie Chan video’s and got really interested in Tae Kwon Do. My father got his black belt in Tae Kwon Do when he was sixteen and he put me into Tae Kwon Do as well and I’ve been hooked ever since.”
What is your biggest attribute as a fighter?
” I would say one of my biggest strengths is my kicks. I have a good low kick and also a spinning back kick. I love to pressure and counterstrike a lot as well too.”
What motivates you more coming off of a win or coming off of a loss from a fighter’s perspective?
” I would say neither, I think what motivates me the most in this career is recognition and just seeing my future. I strongly believe in the law of attraction just manifesting my future and seeing the life I wanna have and envisioning that and that’s what motivates me the most. Whether I win or I loose I have to keep moving forward. Even when I do loose I always reflect on my losses and watch back the tape even if it’s painful you have to watch.”
My name is Matthew Putterman and I am 22 years old. I was the assistant manager at a gym called Roufusport MMA Academy for three and years and I am currently finishing up my degree in the tv/radio program here in Milwaukee.
