Johnny Bedford Out, Antony Retic to face Jarod Grant for Interim Bantamweight Strap

‘Brutal’ Johnny Bedford injured

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is set to return to New York on March 12th. However, the main event has changed.

Originally scheduled to headline the card, defending bantamweight champion Johnny Bedford had to pull from the fight against Jarod Grant due to injury.

Johnny Bedford posted the following:

BKFC announced on Instagram today that Anthony Retic will take Bedfords place. Grant is still in the main event slot for BKFC Fight Night New York 2, and the bout will now be for the interim bantamweight belt.

Grant has made the most of his time with BKFC. Signed in 2020 he has gone 4-0 in the organization with finishes over all four opponents. He defeated Josh Boudreaux and Chris Johnson in his first year with BKFC. In 2021, “Kid Gatti” defeated Brandon Lambert and gave Travis Thomson his first KO loss

Grant is absolutely a rising star and despite losing the chance to fight for the official BKFC strap, he will still headline the show and fight for the interim bantamweight belt. Though now, he will take on Retic.

Coming in on extremely late notice, Retic will try to prove that he belongs at the top of the division. In his BKFC debut last year, he defeated Andy Locker with a vicious uppercut in the first round.

BKFC’s Twitter shared the video:

Despite the sudden change in opponent, Grant vs. Retic is a fun fight, and we here at MyMMANews are excited to see how this bantamweight interim title fight shakes out.
