Josee Storts ‘liked the violence’ behind Invicta debut win
Josee Storts discusses her impressive first-round triangle choke submission win over Helen Lucero in her organizational debut last weekend at Invicta Phoenix Series 2. The event took place at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.
“Skull Crusher” discussed whether or not she found holes in her performance, what surprised her about her opponent’s strategy and demeanor in the fight, how she enjoyed her first Invicta fight week, her somewhat terrifying presence at the ceremonial weigh-ins, how much her fan base grew at home and via social media, her thoughts on the Phoenix Rising single night elimination tournament, being happy for her friend Miranda Maverick, how interesting the one round fights were in the tournament, wanting a quick turnaround and much more.
Storts also revealed that while her performance was quite vicious, she enjoyed herself quite a bit — especially since the fight went the way she expected it to, as she told MyMMANews.com in a previous interview before her Invicta debut went down last weekend.
“It still feels crazy,” Storts told MyMMANews.com Friday afternoon. “It feels incredible and I’m so blessed to put on the performance that I did. It was exactly what I said I wanted to do and it doesn’t always work out like you expect. This time, it absolutely did. Invicta just posted about it again, so just kind of reliving it through the pictures is an amazing time. The pictures were pretty brutal so that’s always fun. I kind of like the violence so I was like, ‘Yeah!’
“I was actually up until 2 a.m. watching it again last night. I was like, ‘I can’t really sleep, so let me just replay this video’. So I’ve been watching it over and over.”
